Sometimes I think this is why I fandom hop, tbh. If I get tired of reading the characters portrayed a certain way (or the dynamics of their relationship) I can go check something else out. (And start all over again, lmao.)

I would like some of your fandom hopping skills haha. I find it really difficult to get into fandoms. Not because I don't like the source material, but because I generally feel no need to seek out fanfic and stuff. Which screws me over if I'm really into a particular fandom and I run into the problem OP says. ;_;

It takes all kinds!

There are certainly times when I love the source material but barely glance at the fandom (either because the canon supplies most everything I want, or the fandom isn't to my taste), but I am the sort of person who will be into a fandom for a couple months then need a break from it. (Which pretty much always happens, no matter how great the fandom is.)

I suppose in a way it's better since there's more options (you can always go back to an old fandom, or try to find a new one), but it might also be harder because there's more to keep up with. (I'm always behind on something. Several somethings. Sometimes a dozen somethings, lol.)

It is hard when you're particularly into a fandom and this happens. At this point I've come to expect it, and am pleasantly surprised when it doesn't happen.

At any rate, I hope you can find a fandom you enjoy! (And want to stick with.)

Yeah there's a downside to like, everything haha. And trying to catch up can be really difficult because, before you know it, something new comes out and you have to spend even longer catching up. @_@

I'm tempted to get back into some old video game fandoms because, if nothing else, I liked reading and discussing the gameplay mechanics. And maybe there might finally be some fic for the tiny, tiny fandoms of some games I used to play.

Ah, old video game fandoms are good. I always want to replay old games, but again...I just have difficulty finding the time with all the new stuff. (And other old shit I want to experience again.)

Sadly there's not much fandom for some of mine either, and I doubt that's changed much. (What art/fic there is...is not good.)

Any particular ones?

(Anonymous) 2015-06-03 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
Main one I'm hoping that's changed a bit is Final Fantasy 6. *crosses fingers* I liked the game, liked the characters, and story, but it's...tiny in comparison to other FF fandoms. :(

I must admit I never played it. (Not because I wasn't interested, it just never happened.)

I rarely hear anything about it, but when I do it's always good! I hope the fandom is larger too.
