I liked the Spanish motif too. It was not Kubo's usage that bugged me, but the fandom reaction that generated, or at least the reaction that others close to me had.

I understand mangakas have a habit of talking words from other languages and putting them into their works in hopes of making their manga sound more sophisticated, or cooler, whatever. French and English, even German, are two languages that I see repeatedly in Animes and Manga.

What pisses me off about this phenomenon is that, all of the sudden, because Kubo uses Spanish it makes it cool. I said 'It's nothing but a fad to them' because them are specific people who have hurt my feeling. These people who now beg me to translate the Spanish words from Bleach were the same people who called me a 'spic', laughed at my accent and asked me if I had swam the Rio Grande. Yet now, suddenly, I am worthy of being their friend because 'OMGKAWAIIDESUDESUDESUYOUSPEAKSPANISHLIKEKUBOCHAN~~!!!^^!'

Yes, I am 'butthurt', as another commenter put it, because of it. But you know what? I think I have valid reasons.

I really did enjoy Bleach. It wasn't until Chad started getting less show time and this happened that I started dreading it. The fact that the fandom went batshit insane (I'm looking at you ileenka!) made me leave it for good.
