7. Sure, you may ship it, cool beans. But your side has been made to look ridiculous by some of its fans xD;

13. >__> Me too? I find it far more interesting than KuroFai. And lulz on me if this is meant to be a lulz pairing.

27. Why do you want it to be canon so badly? Isn't fanon enough for you? I'm honestly curious.

True. I always go 'live and let live' when it comes to liking ships, or characters in general.

Although I could see R/Hr a mile away, it doesn't mean people don't get to ship what they like. But as with most (all, probably) fandoms, the mental ones make the entire group look bad.

sal;kfhasf Lol I would kind of read that. In a horrible, horrible way. xDb

I always think it shouldn't be hard for people to just recognise that it's a fandom, it's not, or shouldn't be, serious business so much, but then people like Snapewives come along and prove me wrong.

I think it's very fortunate that I never really got into HP like other people did, or I would've probably gotten sick of all the insane people.

Instead, now I get to look at Avatar fandom. Awesome.

I think there was a Snape/Sort Hat... thing? And then that Lucius/Draco brain drill fuck... story... ohgod. D:

They do make for great confidence-boosters, though. Although I feel bad for their kids like whoa.

I love Ebony. ♥ But seriously, I enjoy reading about the other plonkers, but ads;lkh trying to reason with the people who don't even acknowledge that R/Hr was canon and that they cry for H/Hr is... amazingly retarded. Willpower makes people blind to the truth, I suppose? Still, I honestly most often prefer fanon to canon anyhow. XD;

Haaa, I only heard very bad things about the Naruto fandom. Haha, sometimes I do stumble on the Pit, but then I fleeeee.

I've seen a Dobby/Sorting Hat rapefic that horrified/mesmerized my friends for weeks. And one where the Sorting Hat is on trial for "giving his sword" to Harry and Neville when they were underaged.

Re: 7

I don't know, I always thought the Harry/Ginny shippers were the worst, they just happened to get their ship, I'd have loved to see how they'd have reacted had H/G not been made canon, it would have been a sight to behold (going by their reactions to the people not liking their ship).

I've had BAD experiences with those people, while I've never been attacked by an H/Hr shipper whenever I tell them I don't agree with H/Hr.

Re: 7

[identity profile] antiva.livejournal.com 2008-01-25 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Lol to me, H/G so came out of nowhere and was better of as an unrequited thing for Ginny liking Harry, but oh well. 8D; Really? Harry/Ginny shippers were rabid? I never knew that, haha.

Ah, I guess we've all heard stories, but I'm sure there's some sane people in the ship. I don't agree with H/Hr myself, but whatever. xD;

Re: 7

[identity profile] luisa-f.livejournal.com 2008-01-25 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
That's kind of the point, there are crazies on all sides, some of us have only come into contact with the crazy ones (unfortunately), and that's how bad rep is born.

Personally most of the H/Hr shippers I've met are the nicest people in the fandom, I have some on my flist and we get along fine, and I don't ship H/Hr and they know it, it's not a problem for them.

While most of the H/G shippers I've met acted like I'd threatened them to death, killed their puppy, or something equally horrenduous if I told them I don't like H/G.

Like it's a sin not to ship H/G.

I liked H/G (and Ginny) better back when it was one sided, then Ginny suffered that personality transplant, and I was left all WTF?! H/G just came out of nowhere.

Re: 7

[identity profile] antiva.livejournal.com 2008-01-25 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
True. I really do feel sorry for the H/Hr people, mainly because it would be really hard to find sane friends with a similar interest on H/Hr communities.

It's the same in any fandom, I suppose. There's the crazy people, and the sane people who can like something but not be totally driven to converting everyone to liking it and even liking it to canon when it's not (in the H/Hr case).

Eh, who cares. I don't really care for any ship in the HP fandom. And the characters I liked best were killed off. xD; AWESOME. But... huh, that's really weird, how daer u not ship H/G? Okaaay then. o_o;

Haha, yess, I heard about that (as I have not yet read the last book, sacrilegy omg) with the offering her virginity as Harry's birthday present. Just... wut. D: I mean, I get people changing over the course of their childhood, but this was kind of strangely out of nowhere.

Re: 7

[identity profile] luisa-f.livejournal.com 2008-01-25 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
I only have one ship on HP, it's Neville/Luna and Jo married them both to other people, and I don't care, to me it's still the coolest more badass pairing from the books. ;D

I think the problem with HP is that the fandom seems to be too obsessed with things being canon, I've seen people who have a real problem with accepting the concept of fanon, of AUs and Alternate realities, and people liking ideas or other routes that were never made canon by J.K.

I've seen people getting angry at her 'killing' some of their theories or pairings (Remus/Sirius slashers come to mind), or 'ruining Dumbledore for them by making him gay. I'd honestly never seeing another fandom being so affected by canon, like if something isn't canon, it shouldn't exist because J.K said it isn't so, it's ridiculous because that's what fanon is for.

Re: 7

[identity profile] antiva.livejournal.com 2008-01-25 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
Hah, I can sort of see it, it's awesome actually. ♥

It's the same with Avatar, really. Who cares if what you ship is canon or not? It doesn't make your opinion more valid than that of someone who doesn't ship your canon OTP.

To be honest, with the way JKR slaughtered Remus until he was a wibbly pile of pathetic, I'm kind of grateful she didn't canonize my Sirius/Remus because it'd have been... boring. I'd much rather read the fanfiction, to be perfectly honest. xD

...Ruining Dumbledore because of his sexual orienta-

...God, people are nuts. xD

Re: 7

[identity profile] luisa-f.livejournal.com 2008-01-25 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I feel relieved my ship wasn't made canon either, J.K had a way of killing personalities just to make characters fit into a ship, poor Tonks, she was so cool in OoTP and then became this ghost.

I kind of understand where Remus' angst was coming from, but still, he was so angry and violent in DH, what need was there to write the couple if both characters were going to be so miserable and treated so badly by her? I think Jo went kind of crazy with pairing everyone up, it was too much.

Ironically enough, to me one of the few pairings she wrote well, you know, with the right amount of forebonding, was Grindelwald/Dumbledore, and it wasn't even that in your face (IMO, at least).

I can't really understand how making a character gay ruins it, but that's twatwaffle logic for you. Personally, I suspected it for a while and DH made it very clear, having her confirm it was just a pleasant surprise in the sense that I didn't think Jo had it in her to come right out and say it.

Re: 7

[identity profile] antiva.livejournal.com 2008-01-25 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
Hah, yeah. orz; I don't get it either. I mean, I like the world she created and the characters, but what she did with them was really random at times. I found Remus/Tonks to be the most awkward pairing of all, but hey, if that's what floats your boat. xD;

Oh, I do understand his angst because he was the last of the Marauders etc etc, but he went from being the dependable, logical guy to emoez, even when he was just only getting together with Tonks. I'm too old, I'm a werewolf, God just stfu already. xD;

Sob I really should read the final book, I really should. I'm just... I only heard so much bad stuff about it, and I know all the endings already, so I'm really hesitant to even pick it up.

It doesn't change anything about the character's personality or anything, as far as I know. But apparently, now Dumbledore's eeevil and corrupted because omg he wasn't the omniscient, yet oddly unattached character as people had perceived him to be.
