Yes they were moirails, until Gamzee lost his mind and started hiding away on the Meteor longer and longer. Their friendship totally fell apart because of that.

AYRT I suppose I'm thinking more in terms of how fandom is with things and how they don't tend to care about platonic ships either way.

Like it's romance in terms of the comic but fandom usually either takes moirails like they are just friends or try to take it into another quadrant.
