Aang's crush was dealt with, but Katara didn't really seem to feel much beyond the fond feelings of a teacher/older sister. It made their relationship look like the usual "the hero gets the girl at the end no matter what". Maybe if he/she had asked the other on a date during the last season or something.

I never really saw the mother/sister thing towards that a lot of people did but I do agree that it WAS a bit too much of "the hero gets the girl" because it just seemed as though Katara was so unsure. And I felt that that aspect was really, really underexplored.
