Unfortunately reboots in general don't tend to do very well. Regardless, sexism will inevitably be the reason this one flops. Not because reboots are fighting against a cloud of nostalgia but because there aren't enough penises. (Penii?)

it can go either way. But rebooting classics like this can be give or take. There's an element of the fandom that says "fuck you, this doesn't need a reboot" and the closely relatied group of willing to go see it but very high standards. If this movie is mediocre a lot of people will declare that it out and out sucks. On the other hand, if general consensus is that it's continuing a proud tradition, it could do great.

A reboot of something that sucks is easier, but ghostbusters has a following all these years later for a reason.
