And Ellaria (obviously) never cared that revenge on the Lannisters wouldn't bring Oberyn back.

I was referring to book!Ellaria. She straight out told the Sand Snakes that their plans of revenge would only lead to more death. It was a really nice counterpoint to the Blood and Fire/Hear Me Roar mentalities of Dany and Cersei respectively.

Also I guess you could argue that show!Ellaria doesn't care about Trystane, but he's still the only heir to the throne in this verse. All of Oberyn's children are illegitimate. She is essentially tossing away the future of Dorne as an independent kingdom. You know, something she should care about seeing as how she hates the Lannisters so much?

If anything it would've been smarter to use a fast acting poison on the dock. She would've been arrested, but at least then Dorne would've been better poised for a counter attack/the upcoming war that's going to break out.
