Yeah, they keep pretending only dark skinned characters get the flowery (often food related) skin colour/complexion treatment lol

I'm not saying whether you're right or wrong, but can you give me some examples? For the life of me I can't think of any commonly used food-related descriptors for pale skin, whereas I feel like I'm always tripping over non-white characters being described as having "chocolate" or "mocha" skin.

Not the same anon, but I've seen milky or cream colored skin. Even peachy (pale color with red undertones). But non-white characters definitely get described with food-related descriptions more.

Milk and cream are usually the comparisons of choice.

It's mostly dairy when it comes to food, mostly because there's not that much white foods.
Milk, cream, peach are the most common foods. Other pale skin descriptions include lily, rose, alabaster, porcelain etc.
Less flattering ones are pasty and doughy.

I think most those descriptions are terrible style most of the time but pretending it's only POC who get the weird descriptions is silly. And they get all the foods because there's lots of brownish foods. And if an author absolutely has to use a descriptor like that, "coffee" is at least better than "mud".
