Sometimes it's not confirmed and I'll think gay or bi but ones where it's ambiguous for some period of time almost always end up straight in the end.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-17 01:04 am (UTC)(link)Another asexual here, and I think there are only a couple of characters I think might be asexual either: original flavour Sherlock Holmes (could be gay, but I lean asexual), possibly bookverse Bilbo Baggins (not Frodo, Frodo was just traumatised, but I think Bilbo genuinely wasn't interested), bookverse Jean Valjean and possibly Javert (though I lean more towards 'extraordinarily repressed gay' for him). In most cases, yeah, it's because they haven't really had a (sexual) relationship in canon, and seem largely disinterested in the whole concept.
