Lesbian is included not because technically it means the same thing as gay but because historically there has been a divide between men and women in the lgbt community and not too long after Stonewall the face of the community was poised to be the white affluent gay male and lesbians weren't about that life.

Yep. I'm bi myself but most of the lesbians I know can't stand gay guys (although not so much the other way around...not trying to start drama, that's just the way it's been in my experience).

Of course. I'm well aware, but just saying if I'm being forced at gunpoint to choose three (which I apparently am), then we could stand to bring the L and the G together into one term. Or hell, just replace it all with Q idk.
