26. Why do those darn Japanese always get all the attention? And the rest of us Asian countries they took inspiration from, what are we, chopped liver? I propose we replace the term weeaboo with "Asianophile", a tradition which I highly applaud the Avatar creators for upholding simply because the way they do it is just so damn fine.

I totally agree. Dear Fandom: Korea is in Asia! So is China! So are all those fiddly countries in Southeast Asia like Thailand and Burma and Java! :D

Hell, India's in Asia.

It's awesome of you to mention Southeast Asia, because that's where I spend half my time. I'm from Vietnam, still waiting on the day something obviously Vietnamese appears on Avatar (like that one episode on Eliza Thornberry years ago; who says Nick never had quality entertainment before AtlA?).

sadly I know very, very little about Vietnam. I wish I knew more, but my school doesn't even -have- an East Asian Studies programme, so we only focus on the big countries. :\

I know pretty much that pho (the soup...? I think) is really delicious. >.< *ignorant* I'd love to learn, though ^_^;

Personally, I'm waiting for something like Javanese shadow puppets or some such, but that's me (and maybe it's already happened...? it's been a while since I've sen the show)

I don't know if you've seen any third season episodes of Avatar, but there's one episode where a character is supposedly wearing an article of traditional Vietnamese clothing. Don't want to spoil anything for you, though.

Thank you, anon! I've seen all the season three episodes that've made their way onto the Internet, but I haven't caught that detail so far. This merits a close inspection.

Supposedly, it's in episode 3x06, Sokka's Master. I say supposedly, because I know next to nothing about Vietnamese culture (though I do enjoy a good pho restaurant, if that counts?) Anyway, a few fans identified Piandao as wearing an ao dai, or what the male equivalent of that is. You'll have to let me know, though, if that's accurate.
