Ready for some more tl;dr? XD

This is going off the Frances O'Connor film again. I really should give the book another go some time...

I don't really think of Fanny as being Edmund's second choice, in part because I have trouble seeing Edmund/Mary *at all*. (Mary/Henry? Yes. Mary/Fanny? Definitely. But to me, she lacked any chemistry with Edmund.) I feel like Mary was just a distraction, and that Edmund was even kind of pushed into it. But if I were *Fanny* in that situation, I'd probably feel like second choice, so it's still a bummer.

(On the other hand, Colonel Brandon is kind of Marianne's second choice, and I love them like BURNING.)

And agreed that Henry and Mary would have made Fanny question her own morality, and hopefully become a little less rigid about things. And I do think Henry would have been a good, faithful husband to Fanny -- him sleeping with and running off with Maria had nothing to do with love and everything to do with desperation, imo. (Well, obviously it wasn't love -- but, what I mean is, I think it has to be taken into consideration that Fanny had done a pretty terrible thing to him, and he'd sunk just about as low as low could go.)
