Ah. Yeah, I know what you mean. It amazed me when I first encountered that vitriol. I mean, I like Rose better, personally. I like her dynamic better. I didn't hate Martha, I just wasn't as fond of her. And then I suddenly encounted oodles of Rose-haters who were all "Martha is so much better!!!11!!" and... man, it freaked me out. I have to admit, it's kind of left a bitter taste for Martha in my mouth. But then, I know people who feel the same way about Rose.

The shipping... I will ship Doctor/Rose forever, but it's funny to try and make it like any one pairing is supreme (I will also admit that the concept of Doctor/Martha confuses me more than annoys me), given the fact that the Doctor's been around for ages and has had many, many companions, and really, loves them all, in his own way. (Me, my favorite companion's Evelyn Smythe! I swear, I think I'd ship them, but it would almost be too much of a teenybopper thing to do to such a great relationship as they had!)


But yeah. Ship wars kind of destroy everything. I thought Rose got the most hate until someone posted a secret with the horrible graphics of Martha with mean things written on them. I just don't get it, man.

I agree. I like Martha, she's a great character. But she's an almost-doctor who wasn't as smart as a high school dropout xD; Uhhhh. Whut. I find that funny, in an endearing way. Thankfully, I'm not swayed to hate a character, pairing, or series because of its bad fans...I just dislike the bad fans 8D I dunno.

Like I said in my secret, I'm all over NinexRose. And TenxRose is adorable too, but I feel bad that Martha got ignored because Ten was moping the entire third season :[ (I love Four/Romana. I don't really have an all-time favorite companion, though...) Though, I think if Ten gets to fiddling with Donna, I'll be very disappointed. I'm not fond of Donna at ALL XD;;

I'd rather Ten not get fiddling with anyone, really. I never was a fan of Ten/Martha, not because OMG DOCTOR/ROSE 4-EVER!!!, but because...well, I just didn't find any chemistry there. She liked him. Honestly, if you got whisked away by a foxy little number in pinstripes who happened to be a ridiculously intellegent alien who could taken you anywhere and anywhen in the universe while being adorable and funny in the face of all danger, etc... well, who wouldn't fall in love just a little bit. But he didn't like her back. And I don't think it was just the moping over Rose (though I did think even from a Time Lord's perspective, maybe it would've been "too soon" really). I just didn't see the chemistry. Sometimes you like someone who just doesn't like you back. It happens.

It was Martha's pining that kind of pushed me from "Oh, a new companion" to "I kind of want her to go away." I will be equally disappointed if the Doctor "fiddles" with Donna. It's just...after the whole relationship with Rose and the Martha pining thing (well, really, just after the former)... I've had enough of canon romance for now, thanks. I seriously want the next-next companion to be a bloke from the past, or an older woman or something. Something that doesn't automatically go "SHIP ME!" (well, no more than normal).

I gotta agree with Four/Romana. I've only seen a tiny itty-bitty clip of them, but the chemistry sort of lept off the screen.
