But you can't ignore the death threats because that has become a social norm. Because it used to be when you were offended, you would either write a letter to an editor or the network or talk among your friends and colleagues about how offensive something is. These days, when people find something "offensive," they try to destroy the people they find offending. Doxxing being one way. Calling up their bosses to get them fired. Spreading their name across the internet in a way to get globally shunned for whatever reason. Even making death threats, like you said, and worse case scenario, drive them to suicide.

It has become evil.

I can see people putting up a shield to protect themselves from this. So, the moment someone says, "I am offended," up goes the armor because they don't know how this offended person will react in the long run.

I think you're generalizing too much. I don't assume every person who says something homophobic is going to beat me and I don't think someone who is told they said something homophobic should assume that the ones telling them that are going to try to destroy their lives.

These days, when people find something "offensive," they try to destroy the people they find offending.

I don't think this is the norm. It's more common than it should be but I still come across way more people condemning it than supporting it.

This kind of hateful behavior isn't an inevitable extension of saying something is offensive. It's something that people do for all kinds of reasons, SJ stuff just being one excuse for some of them.
