I love really dark eyes like that. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

It's just never something you hear complimented, though, you know? At least in media. It's usually green/blue/grey eyes that get the compliments. If it's brown eyes, they're usually light or hazel.

My friend from Singapore has light brown/hazel eyes and gets frequent compliments on them at home so I know it's not just a color issue (although I do think Western culture tends to praise green/blue more).

It's nice to know that you like them, though! :)

I think it's rarer in English-language works, the English being a rather blond race in general.

What I immediately thought of, though: The eyes in "Ojos así" are described as "tus ojos negros."
