You sound like the kind of person who says video games cause people to kill.

Well, the Columbine shooters played Doom! Obviously such violent games are indicative of killers. D:

um, no

racist jokes and casual racism contribute to a culture where black and minority lives are worth less, and directly contribute to mindsets such as the killer's in that shooting. it may not contribute as much as donning a white hood or burning crosses, but the more "acceptable" outright races find their opinions, the more likely they are to assume everyone around them feels the same way, and will back them up when they go on their shooting sprees.

the very same way rape culture and rape jokes make actual rapists feel more "comfortable" about what they're doing morally, because rape isn't a big deal, see? everyone jokes about it!
