Anything where someone is covered in bugs, whether it's real or a hallucination. I got covered in ants once when I was little and I can't watch anything similar.

That happened to me when I was little too. Stepped on an ant's nest. But it only bothers me with ants on screen. Other bugs don't bother me.

I can't handle anything that seems like it would have that same feeling with all the spindly legs. But I do have more of a problem with ants in general than with other bugs.

How did that happen. Outside of picturing a prank involving a bucket of ants, are there actual feasible ways to be covered in bugs that can happen to me?

Stepping on an ant hill/leaning against a tree with an ant nest, depending on the type of ant.

Pavement and carpenter ants are pretty harmless, but fire ants are the fucking devil, and there are some tropical ant species that make them seem sweet and mild-tempered.
