I always get super envious of make-up youtubers for their skills. Even though I enjoy making myself up, I don't have all that much confidence and think that I look like an eight year old, who raided her mom's make-up bag.

Special FX make-up tutorials are fun. I adore Pinkstylist and Glam&gore isn't bad either.
There's probably weirder stuff out there to be fangirled over, than make-up tutorials, though.

I've tried looking for makeup tutorials for faces like mine, because I'm genuinely not sure what to do with my face, but I don't even known how to describe my face in the search terms. I have no clue what the diff is between face shapes, eye shapes, cheekbone placement...

That said, some of what I have seen has been really cool-- some of these people can completely transform the way they look in about five minutes-- and I can see where they could be relaxing. Mostly they just leave me mildly envious, though.

I like watching tutorials but all it does is make me think, "Dear god they're saying 'have this basic' stuff and it's more makeup than I've ever owned in my whole life." XD

I'm super envious of their clear skin. Wow.

I've only watched a couple of makeup vids and while I enjoyed them, I don't know that I would do it on a regular basis. (Not because I find it boring exactly...I do enjoy looking at makeup on tumblr, and short picture tutorials are rad, but I guess I'm not concerned about expanding my makeup skills just yet. ...I would like to learn contouring, but it looks like wayyyyy too much effort. On a bad day I already spend 30 minutes on makeup and I know for a fact that I don't need too, it just happens, so I don't want to add any time to that.)

On the plus side I do get a fair amount of compliments despite the fact that I could do so much better. So yay?

...Okay, this comment is getting unnecessarily long so: it's cool! If this is what relaxes you, might as well take advantage of it. It IS kind of neat seeing how talented some people are with makeup...so watching people 'transform' themselves might just be you appreciating the skill involved as well?

Who are the ones in your secret? The first girl is so pretty!

I like makeup videos too, though I rarely wear makeup. My favorite just to watch is Loepsie, partly because she's pretty and has a really cute accent (she's from the Netherlands, I think). I've seen people recommend Lisa Eldridge if you want to really learn about putting on makeup, because she does makeup for celebrities.

Might as well un-anon, nobody's around this time of the day anyway:

The first one is my favorite, Sekine Risa-san! And yes, she's really pretty. Her channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/SekineRisa/featured

Now I wonder who here has that kind of light Japanese/NEAsia complexion.

Videos of putting on makeup certainly fits as an ASMR experience, which relaxes a lot of folk into sleep. It makes sense!

yup! op, you might want to check out asmr videos on youtube. they generally try to recreate the same sort of experience you get watching makeup tutorials. (many asmr-tists credit them as their initial inspiration, actually.)

Oh wow, Nonnie, thank you I've never heard of that, but after googling around, I think that's me: watching people draw/paint, and low hums of air conditioners make me sleepy too.
