I need more conclusive and more irrefutable proof than I have been provided if I am to believe in the pay gap.

this doesn't make you an asshole? unless you have already been provided with solid proof.

tbh I don't know if the pay gap can really be quantified bc there are many different factors that play into it and while I think it probably exists I'm not sure how big it actually is and I've seen several different numbers.

I'll add here a slightly controversial opinion: I don't think the pay gap is something that can or should be fixed artificially on a large scale, and I think focusing on social attitudes towards women will create more solid long-term change.
