The hate is mostly about the shoddy animation and the main cast's missing personalities.

I agree. The inner senshi might as well not even be there. They'd be more interesting if they were replaced by zombies LOL

I've also seen some point out that Crystal and the manga aren't as alike as people claim and that some of the changes make a pretty big difference.

Like when Luna suggests Tuxedo Kamen might be an enemy. Neither Usagi wants to believe it, but it says rather different things about them when manga!Usagi keeps it to herself but struggles with her feelings about it (and seems to play the Sailor V game to distract herself)... and when Crystal!Usagi shouts "Stupid Luna!" and stomps off in the middle of a meeting.
