I hurt too, it was too easy to rationalize my mental state by applying a character to the emotions. But then it kind of helped ease the understanding of what is happing to my mother who has Alzheimer's. I cried during the movie yes, because it hurt. I may not have felt better necessarily but more of a calm peace afterwards.

I'm sorry OP.

If it makes you feel any better, it wasn't just you:

Sorry you couldn't make it through, OP. I do get it. I think I mostly related to Sadness, and I really hated Joy. But I ended up loving the movie and Sadness totally gets vindicated in the end.

Ugh, does this have a female character named Riley? I hate that name, it reminds me of dogs and someone being "riled up." I don't think it would ruin the movie, but I wish stupid names didn't have to show up everywhere.

Just because you have a bad connotation with a name doesn't make it a stupid name that shouldn't be used. For reasons I don't entirely know I've never been fond of the name Gretchen, but eh...doesn't make it a bad name.

Can this be the thread where we talk about names we don't like?!! Because I hate the name Bridget. It obviously reminds me of a bridge. Yep.

Sounds fun. I always hated the name Kurtis. Then I had a friend who told me about a Kurtis who was a dick to them.

Vindication!

Looking back, I do feel awful about feeling vindicated afterward when I should have been sad for them.

Lol I'm a sucky friend.

Ugh, same here. That's the name of the gal my boyfriend cheated on me with. I'm also not very fond of the name Claire or Jade because of people I know.

Works for me. I really hate my own name. Ruth is such an old lady name. I would change it legally if I didn't think it would hurt my parents' feelings.

This movie should be something I'd love but I'm afraid to go see it for the same reason. Just the trailer made me cry.

I am conflicted too. Sometimes intense conflict in a movie gets too much for me. I'm watching a bunch of characters fighting and getting upset and just biting my knuckles going "nononononononono"

Partly because I've been in the middle of some nasty friend arguments.

On one hand, I know it's a sign that I'm getting real invested, but on the other its not fun.

I had the same thoughts. Then I read reviews. There were parts of the movie that were really painful. But the ending was really cathartic for me. Still hate Joy, but the ending made everything better for me.

My daughter really wants to see it this weekend, so of course my soon to be ex wants to tell her that we are splitting up this weekend. I really cannot take her to see this after a bombshell like that. Plus now, I don't know if I could make it through.
