"Steve/Natasha. I totally get shipping them. Not sure if they are actually popular. But they are totally a ship I would normally ship because I love friendship romances. But I don't ship them for reasons I haven't entirely figured out yet."

In regards to this, I wonder if you're like me and see Natasha as wanting Steve's approval. For me, that's a HUGE roadblock in shipping them because it creates this power imbalance that I just really don't like. Beyond seeing them as siblings.

That's interesting. Maybe that's part of it. I know part of it is that I hardcore OTP Steve/Bucky, and that hits the same friendship romance buttons but with a stronger friendship and also hitting my angsty and hurt/comfort buttons.

I also think their very different worldviews clash a bit too much for my taste. I'm all for opposites attract, but not quite to that extent. It is clear her dishonesty bugs him, and she sees his desire for being completely open and honest as a weakness.
