I haven't watched a new anime series in ages. It does seem quite a homogenized medium now. I was so excited to see that the creators of Utena and Bebop were releasing new material, but it hardly seems distinguishable from all the other shiny, fluffy stuff that's the new normal.

Space Dandy is totally worth a watch even if you're hesitant into checking out Watanabe's newer stuff.

Hmm. It looks so awful and I rarely like anime comedy as it is. BUT BEBOP IS ASTOUNDING SOOO I might as well watch a couple of episodes.

If you're expecting Bebop and don't like anime comedy, you're bound to be disappointed then. The first few episodes are a bit rough though but it gets better.

Something with a slightly different style recently was the Garo anime.
