I'm not butthurt about it. But since he, as you say yourself, is supposed to represent what America should be, we can't really expect or hope for more characters flaws. Because America is supposed to be perfect and flawless, even if it isn't.

You should read the thread, people make good points about how he does have flaws. The problem is the narrative never acknowledges them as such. This is especially apparent in the comics, where Cap is a complete dick at times yet never called out on it or always treated as though he's right.

Personally, I'm burnt out on "muh dark, damaged, and edgy superheros", as they've inundated popular culture the last several years to the point where they're now the cliche. I, for one, welcome the genuinely good heroes that I can look up to.

This is part of what makes him so boring to me. Negative actions without negative consequences makes for a boring read, imo. And I can't really see those things as actual character flaws unless they have a negative impact on Cap as a character.

You don't have to write a dark, damaged, and edgy superhero to give a character flaws. How about writing a character with flaws that sometimes make them make mistakes that they then have to try and put right? If Cap acts like a dick, wouldn't it be nice if someone said "Cap, that was such a dickish thing to do, not cool", and Cap actually has to face the consequences of acting like a dick instead of the narrative treating it as if it's okay for him to be a dick, because he's Captain America? I know that other super heroes get called out when they make mistakes or act like dicks, so why not Captain America?
