Am I the only one who thinks that their relationship was written that way on purpose? I was okay with it – and with her – because I assumed that it wasn't SUPPOSED to be True Love, but rather another manifestation of Zuko's Dumb Teenager-ness and also representative of the dubious nature of his allegiance to the Fire Nation.

Oh, I agree that it was written to be funny, but the thing is, I won't be able to laugh and be okay with it until everything's all over and I can breathe a sigh of relief. I acknowledge that "You're so beautiful when you hate the world" and "I don't hate you too" are pretty much hilarity in a bucket when they come to romantic lines (right up there with my all time favorite "Your eyes have a little green in them...*vomit all over guy's shoes.*" *snif* Oh, Heath Ledger...). But I'm not okay with that particular kind of humor plopping unwelcome onto a really well-developed, fairly serious sort of character. Funny things happen to Zuko, but Zuko himself is pretty much a straight man.

I also felt it didn't gel with that time in the series, given how much darker the third season has got.

But yeah, at the end, if it's all alright, then I'll watch those scenes again and snicker like a maniac. I just need to be sure.
