I guess the book could be boring if you're uninterested by political and moral drama, and the musical could be fun if you like trite, inane spectacle. To be fair, I might have liked the musical if I hadn't read the book a couple times already. But if nothing else, the musical is the second worst adaptation from a book I've seen. The first being The Golden Compass. But that's another rant entirely.

Wow cry moar and get off your high horse. People are allowed to like different things than you sry 2 say. The book was boring because the prose style was horrendous and the so called political drama petered out into Elphaba's inner wankstorm.

The musical isn't supposed to be an exact translation, it's an entirely different story with characters and situations inspired by the source material. Kind of like the Wicked book is inspired, rather than directly adapted from the original Oz series.

So basically, what you're saying is that the two materials are so completely unrelated that they might as well have not called the thing Wicked, or even used the character names from the book because they have nothing to do with one another anyway, so there's no point in associating one with the other? Because hey! That's how I feel about the whole thing, and that's what makes me so unhappy about the musical! Awesome! I'm glad we agree.


I think I'll stay up here on this horse actually, I'm comfortable up here. I like the view.
