I...really don't agree with that.

I don't know. I mean, what do you suggest? There are already rules in place in cons about not touching people or taking pictures without permission, but people do it anyway. You can ask people to stop, but in my experience, they'll roll their eyes or be incredibly offended, maybe stop with you, and go harass someone else. You can talk to con staff about it, but there's nothing they can do without any proof, and more often than not they're already pulled in so many directions that they're not really going to go out of their way to do so.

In all the years I've been to cons, I've seen/heard of a total of seven people getting thrown out for harassment, but of course that's the very very tip of the iceberg.

These people are not incapable of learning (I don't imagine you're suggesting they aren't). It takes making noise, making a stink, pushing, being in someone's face, *making* the staff kick out the worst of them, making them publicly put up rules about it, BEING OFFENDED.

If my con experience is becoming really sucky due to asshats who won't stop groping, leering, whatever - i'm gonna make noise until *they* go away. At the con, online, everywhere.

Shrugging and going 'well, nobody really takes it seriously' isn't gonna do a damn thing.
