So I just saw on some other place someone making a comment about how JKR put Ron and Hermione together for personal wish fufillment reasons saying she "put them together for her own selfish reasons".

Okay no. No.

How we felt about the way it played out aside- she wrote it. Her characters, her book. How the hell is it selfish for her own reasons to dictate her pairing choices? "selfish" does not belong in that assertion because there is no reason why a person's own reasons shouldn't go into her writing choices. or at least if they're "selfish" it's not a bad thing here.

Hell I'd say that "personal wish fufillment" is a better reason than doing it for popularity or for someone else. You'll never please anyone, so writing something a certain way because you wanted it is honestly the best motivation.

To the one who said that? Get over yourself. It's not any less legit for a writer to have something happen or make a choice for their reasons.

What? Ugh. No. I hate that and I don't even like the pairing. But seriously? She's the author. She gets to write what she wants. And if it is wish fulfillment, which I doubt, so what? She's the author.

Well if you want to make an extreme case, yes, every choice every author makes is for their own personal wish-fulfillment reasons. Because it's their story and they get to write it however they wish for the reasons they wish.
