But I cannot think of Hugh sexually. It's largely because of the actor and things I wish I did not know about him.

Wtf, I was goolgling around as I'm not very familiar with this show or him (I only know Chris Addison) and a telegraph article said "At his trial last month, the acclaimed star of the BBC political satire, The Thick of It, had been cleared of a further eight charges of sexually assaulting a schoolgirl." -- he got away with having sex with a schoolgirl only because she'd turn 18.

...there is not enough DNW in the world.

Well shit, I did not know about that. It does explain the lack of fic, even though I tend to keep the character and the actor who plays them separated, so...but yeah, that's pretty messed up and now I'm not so sure I'd enjoy the fic even if there was any

I try to keep the character and actor separate but in this case I can't. It's the reason his character was written out.

This may have contributed to the lack of Hugh/Malcolm in fandom (NICOLA/MALCOLM FTW)

I can pretty much ship Malcolm with anyone else.

(Well, not Clara. The quantity of Malcolm/Clara fics, despite the chemistry of the actors on DW, continues to befuddle me. And some of it is really well-written but I just don't get the appeal.)

Malcolm/Jamie and Malcolm/Julius seem to be pretty popular as well, or that may just be the Whovian I'm following.

(I know right? I'm usually looking at it from the opposite side wanting Twelve/Clara and ending up with Malcolm/Clara going IT'S NOT THE SAME)

Malcolm/Jamie is nearest to my heart, but he's the fandom bicycle for me.

Twelve/Clara I can totally see, though I typically bristle at Time Lord/human unless it's deliberately written as fucked-up and unhealthy. But Malcolm is very much not the Doctor, and I can't see there being any attraction from either direction.

Yeah, overly fluffy Twelve/Clara is a bit 'off' but the series itself was pretty good about making it a trainwreck (the 'Dark Water' locked out of the TARDIS incident much)

There's not much interaction because Jamie is not in nearly enough episodes. I could go on at great length about why they are such a rad pairing, but really, all you need to know is that they saw fit to have a "Missing you loads"/"Love you!" conversation in the midst of starting an illegal war together.
