However, you are not legally required to have sex in order to be married. There is no consummation law. It is assumed that most married people will want to have some sort of sexual relationship, but it is not required.
Edit: And other people have pointed out that it can be grounds for annulment, but as they've also said that's a totally different matter and mostly based on the idea that a person was promised a thing as part of an agreement to marry and then that thing was not provided. ...People have also gotten annulments for penis size issues or lack of fertility, so there you go.
Asexuals could always get married. In fact, the very concept of a "sexless marriage" has existed for decades and decades now, so there's a very high likelihood that asexual people have been getting legally married for quite a while.
