I think comedy movies generally don't attract big fandoms? Comedy shows do, for some reason, but the big movie fandoms are all more drama/SF/action. Even if they're funny, they're rarely marketed as actual comedies (Kingsman comes to mind - it's hilarious, but it's not a comedy as such, it's marketed as an action/comic movie).

I'll admit that I mostly ship Fine/Ford because the posh vs. working class thing REALLY works for me. And I find slash hotter than het or femslash, but even so I ended up shipping just about everyone in the movie, just not enough to write fic.

I think Spy is pretty actiony, though - yes, it's action comedy, but it's not like it's a slapstick comedy starring Will Ferrell and Adam Sandler.

ayrt It is, but the way it was marketed still made it look like more of a typical comedy. I think a lot of people didn't even watch it because the trailer just made it look incredibly silly. I only watched it because I love Jason Statham and I was surprised by how good it was, but I expected it to be one of those cringeworthy terrible comedies I usually hate.

I agree...didn't find the trailer appealing at all. Then my brother told me how great it was, and I saw it and was pleasantly surprised.
