Boston. Although we've actually been out of Boston since a few years after WW2. There's still a few cousins left up that way, with accents so thick I had trouble understanding them.

Ffffft. If I wanted a war memorial bombed I'd do it myself.

Ah, WW2. That was when the people of Ireland decided they hated the British more than they hated Hitler. They looked at mainland Europe and saw the persecution of the Jews and decided, fer to be sure to be sure, but haven't we Irish suffered more than a coordinated campaign of genocide in industrial fashion and if dar English der are agin it den it must be good to be fahr it. Even when the Irish government realized that to the Nazis they were lower down on the Eugenics pole than the slavs and if Hitler took England then Ireland was next, they still could not sell it to the Irish populace and get it past the Irish shoulder chip to actually fight for their own survival.

DA, but strip away the racist language and the OP has a point with this one. The Irish public insisted on neutrality during WW2 because it really did not want to risk having Irish soldiers under British commanding officers. The Irish government appreciated the threat and arranged for covert support of the allies, but was never able to get the Irish public to support full public support, mainly because of enduring anti-British sentiment, even when the abuses of the Axis regime were made public. Not a happy part of Ireland's history. The Irish position in the Cold War also drew it few friends too, refusing to publicly support the West and stating publicly that it need not commit or contribute to NATO because its geographic position meant that NATO countries would have no choice but to protect Ireland anyway. It comes across as freeloading.
