So is this art in the secret an example of whitewashing or not? I'm confused.

On the one hand he looks pretty white to me. On the other, his skin is a lot darker than his (white) hair. On the third hand, he looks delicious, and they said brown skin is delicious.

Anyone know what the OP meant?

This is Fenris from Dragon Age 2. Videogame lighting is always wonky but he's pretty obviously darker than what appears in that art.

I guessed it was Fenris, but I'm mostly familiar with fanart of him so I don't know his original color. They've de-aged him in the fanart in the secret too, I think?

I know all about that man's voice. Oh yes. I love you, Balthier/Fenris voice actor. He also voiced Gaius in FE:A as well but they made him put on an American accent in that, which was a travesty. Why hire Mr. Ultimate British Sexy Voice and then make him do that?

I assumed it was because his right arm is reaching over a bit. If you try it out with your own arms, you'll see that your chest starts to curve in a bit.

I love Fenris's in-game skin tone, his design in general is just so awesome. Though his sister has light skin iirc, and he's got that ambiguous shade (not to mention he's not a human, he's an elf). I guess it's not beyond the realm of possibility that he had lighter skin when he was younger or something, at least like his sister, but overall I agree, why would you want to change Fenris's skin tone? It's gorgeous, and makes a great contrast against his hair and markings.

Race is a social construct, not a genetic truth about the whole of humanity.
Therefore race can be thought of as being equivalent to cultural background, sometimes.
I don't have to believe that anyone from any given culture is the same as anyone else, appearance wise or otherwise, dammit. I also don't have to cater to every damn single ass$)@ who wants me to say I'm polygamous enough to need sexual attention from huge swaths of humanity in the name of supposed social justice.

TL;DR: I just need attention from one person, not an entire freakish rainbow crowd of people for any reason.

I'm... I'm pretty sure no major media company in America is going to disagree with you there. Literally every single other secret, EVERY SINGLE OTHER SECRET, features peach colored skin. With the possible exception of the gray scale woman and man who are nevertheless coded pretty heavily as whiteys.

So I think you needn't fear on that front.
