(Anonymous) 2015-07-02 01:49 am (UTC)(link)If it's just the ability to see and enjoy chemistry between two characters, that's one thing, but a lot of people use "shipping" to refer to actively engaging with the fandom for a pairing, whether it's as a producer of fan content or a consumer. In the latter case, you can absolutely pick and choose what you ship based on fan behavior, because fandom participation is always a choice.
