Sorry, flashbacks to my own adolescent growth spurt, when all the bones in my arms and legs were just in constant pain, to the point where I got used to constant pain being normal. And I'm only 6'2".

Maybe it's just me, but it doesn't feel like real love. They idolize the other too much, he's always thinking 'omg she's so cute pure and so innocent' (she isn't the pure girl he thinks she is), and she's always 'omg he's so manly and so brave and so perfect', kinda like the kind of feelings people have for their waifu/husbando. It's like they don't understand or know each other at all.

Before anybody takes the "she isn't the pure girl he thinks she is" comment out of context, her "lewd" thoughts are that she wants to hold his hand and sometimes even hug him.

The thing is, Takeo pretty much *is* as manly and brave and so forth as Yamato thinks he is. And while Takeo may have initially thought Yamato was more 'pure' than she is, every time she owns up to how she feels and tells him what she wants him to do, or the jealousy and worries she has, he loves her *more* for it.

A big part of the humor of the show/manga is tossing out all the staid cliches along the lines of 'they angst about how the other isn't what they thought' or 'they can't speak up and it's causing problems.' (We've got Sunakawa to thank for that in a lot of ways -- he very bluntly tells each of them when they're being dumb, and helps them move along.) Sometimes, two people really are just right for each other.

But they get to know each other more with every passing episode, and love each other all the more for it?

I mean, Takeo really is that manly and brave. It's just that Yamato is the first girl who's ever bothered to find that out and seen beyond his scary apperance. He's not perfect and Yamato sees that too, and loves him still. Yamato is cute but she isn't "pure" (the lost in the forest and beach episodes make that really clear. she thinks Takeo is smoking hot and wants to climb him like a tree), and Takeo doesn't mind it. There was that episode where Suna's sister tells her that Takeo isn't so small minded that he'd leave her if he found out that she wasn't an angel on earth.

It's just you. The show has a great grounding on relationships but, still, IT'S A CARTOON!
