(Anonymous) 2015-07-03 03:46 am (UTC)(link)Thank you for saying this! It boggles my mind how somehow the definition put forward by a university prof (power+privilege) has somehow become the de facto definition in the past few years.
So many times, I've seen arguments about racism go round and round in circles, because one set of people is using the p+p=r definition, and the other is simply going with the "discriminating on the basis of race" definition. And some people end up using it as a card to defend shitty behavior.
Instead of arguing semantics, it would be easier if everyone would stop being assholes. Gotta be honest, though: that'll never happen.
