It's MRA anon again. There's a pattern of these. Anonymous thread starter post something about women or feminism that aligns with MRA theories about how women and feminism work. Responses to the thread skew much more heavily anon than other threads, and include at least one anon saying that "she" totally embodies the MRA stereotype involved and loves it, and one anon angrily calling everyone vile pieces of shit who should die.

And no, I'm not MRA anon. I've been occasionally known as Cap!Anon.

I don't think it's useful to assign it to a narrative in terms of which 'side' the person is on, but I agree that it uses a lot of the same style that trolly shit has had in the past.

But ultimately that doesn't matter much, and it makes more sense to just treat it as the stupid fucking joke that it is, rather than dignify it by treating it as 'MRA!anon' or something like that.

AYRT

I take your point about not wanting to reduce everything to tribal affiliation, but assigning a name lets us designate this particular behavior and point it out immediately when it recurs, which is helpful. And as someone who (you'll have to take my word) has spent a lot of time studying MRA and antifeminist rhetoric, the tells are both consistent and obvious.

I think that's a fair point. And I certainly agree that's the logic under which the trolling operates. I just worry about it turning into a whole dumb thing like it always seems to. But I think your points are fair.
