If I recall correctly, the only reason Lean didn't give him the role of Lawrence was because he was too old. I guess I think it's funny that he was cast as Faisal, though, given that he's only a couple of years older than Lawrence in reality. And Guinness was the wrong race, to boot.

That said, I'm VERY happy we got Peter O'Toole. His performance and Omar's are far and away my favorites in this film.

Perhaps I just stumbled across some very hardcore Guinness fans because they were NOT happy at my suggestion!
