I am really, really, really tempted to start a Watson Is Not White tumblr, arguing that the first (and practically only) physical description of John Watson in ACD canon says he's "brown as a nut", and therefore 130 years of white Watsons, starting with Sidney Paget, are all despicable whitewashing of a strong, proud character of color. This would involve angrily calling out fan artists and calling everyone literal shit, obviously.

Considering that the Tumblr kids have no idea how 19th-century English worked, I bet I could get away with it.

The most recent one, though it was a while ago, was a post with someone telling people how they should ship a certain pairing and if the shipped it any way but abusive they were justifying what was clearly (to them) an abusive relationship in canon and somehow therefore were justifying real life abuse.

Sorry, all the fandom trainwreck posts I know are LJ/DW/JF.

Wait, actually, I follow Andy Blake wank on tumblr! He's said TONS of really horrible things. Let me see... I think maybe him linking mental illness to fictional characters to his own past and how not absolving him was the same as not absolving a fictional character. But really, it's Andy Blake; that shit's nothing compared to the other crap he says.

I have a morbid fascination with this sort of thing.

I understand COMPLETELY. That's how I got sucked into it. (That and oddly, learning about why Blake does what he does has been really useful me in other arenas.)

Uh let's see, I would recommend theteablogger and kumquatwriter on tumblr. KQ is a survivor of Blake's, while TB is just really thorough in their research. Also, they're both quite nice people!

There are a bunch of other sites, but I figure they're good starting places and can help show you the other places to check out too.

I mostly see silly stuff rather than bad stuff, like someone who uses the pronoun "galaxieself" and says not to use it for yourself without their permission because seeing someone else use it could be triggering for them.

The only real trainwreck I've followed is Sonic For Real Justice: http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/sites/sonic-for-real-justice I'm still convinced they're all the same person and it's some kind of performance art.

I think the two that come to mind are: All the "the author of Ava's Demon is a pedophile and terrible and everything about her comic is awful but for some reason I'm going to keep reading it anyway" posts and the whole weird mentality that the author was supposed to cater to her fans and not write the comic the way she wants. The sheer entitlement and stupidity about this was magnificent.

The second thing would be ... just about everything about the Nightvale fandom in general but the "Carlos is not white" callout tumblr in particular. It got ridiculous real fast after they kept "calling out" pictures that had an obviously brown Carlos but it wasn't dark enough for theirs tastes and also unshaded, uncoloured sketches.
