Tumblr hates them. There are posts like "Every time you reblog this, a minion dies / REBLOG LIKE THE WIND" and how they make people wish for the Frozen hype to come back.

Oh, and on the more SJ side, there are posts that the minions are problematic because they're canonically said to have served whoever was the biggest evil in the world in any era, which means they would have, you know, helped all those genocidal imperialists and stuff.
