This could be a spoiler, but I don't think it is since it's in the book's summary.

The point of the book is that the dog dies multiple times during the book, but each time he gets reincarnated and so he gets to live multiple lives -- searching for his one true purpose. It's a brilliantly written book, sometimes you forget it wasn't the actual dog who wrote it. It's beautiful and sad and funny, and in the end it all comes full circle. Definitely a must for anyone who loves dogs.
