Anybody see this accusation that came out? It does fill in quite a few gaps onw what went down with hivebent (for those who have no fucking idea the TL;DR version: The Original Gentlemen, the indie game studio that was tasked to make the homestuck game that they had a kickstarter for, has been accused of taking the money to make the Kings Quest game instead and did no work on what they were paid for. The fact neither side has talked about it at all except one very legal-ese "There is no official comment" from Hussie suggests lawsuit shit has happened or is happening which is as good as proof for many)

So yeah, this blows if it's true and nothing seems to point to otherwise. I thought the new Kings Quest game looked shitty to be honest, but I always loved the gameplay of the old ones so I was definitely looking forward to seeing if they had the old style under the new substance, but now I don't think I can throw money at them. Plus it's the Gearbox shit all over again for those who remember that scandal. Why do some people suck so much? Forget Gamergate crap, ethics in gaming development is the new ranty subject!

I saw this yesterday and it really bummed me out. I haven't played a new game in forever and I don't know anything about game mechanics or anything. BUT, I really love KQ and I've been so excited for it. I don't really care about graphics - I just want to get into that world again and see those characters again and solve puzzles and watch random, funny deaths. I want it to do well so that even more KQ games will be made.

I'm really conflicted because I wanted to buy the new KQ as a message that this is the kind of game I want more of, but now it feels weird because by buying it, I'm supporting unethical practices. A part of me hopes there was something else that happened but it doesn't look like it. I'll probably still buy the game because I love KQ so much but I feel really bad for the fans of the other game. It really spoils my experience with KQ, which I really hate as I have nothing but love for those games.

I'd rather hope it flops but... perhaps a small compromise? Steam does allow refunds now for any reason if it's within fourteen days of purchase, and the title has been played for less than two hours.

So if you play this and it turns out that It's obviously lame, send it back?

I heard about it too.
