......wow.

I hate spiders, but I won't set my house fire for that or leave cause there's a spider in my bathroom.

Different strokes for different folks.

I'm not saying it's a rational reaction...

Spiders are helpful. Spiders are useful. Even the venomous ones won't attack unless you, literally provoke/step on them.

Cockroaches? Spreaders of disease and pestilence and generally if you see one, that means YOU HAVE THOUSANDS. If you see one in a room where there is generally no food or water (they tend to accumulate in kitchen/bathroom) THAT IS A VERY BAD SIGN. So.

Set off a bug bomb as you're going out the door, OP. Hopefully you'll come back to a roach-free house.

In America, "even the venomous ones won't attack unless you, literally provoke/step on them."

some other places are a bit different.

nayrt

wherever you are, it's a waste of energetically expensive venom to use it on a non-prey organism that isn't threatening you.

I actually fear spiders way less than roaches. If I see a spider in the apartment, I'll catch it and put it outside. I can pretty much do that with any bug.

But for some reason, roaches are a different story. I'm just glad I never had to deal with the little ones that crawl into ears and nom on eardrums.
