Yeah, most people accept he's a nut but go ahead and watch his movies anyway.

TBF a lot more people's work went into making his movies than just Cruise. I'd like a lot of the movies he was in even if the lead had been played by someone else. For some of them I wish someone else had played the lead, I'd rather have seen someone else be the face of Minority Report

Minority Report still would have sucked, tho', given what they did to the original short story. (The twist ending that wasn't a twist ending but was a twist ending only it was a stupid twist ending in the movie.)

The Scilon's entirely beside point, IMO. They erased the one part of the plot that made the whole story work.

yah yah yah *butthurt PKD fan detected* graaarrrrhhhh

Psssshhh. I LOVE his movies. He is in my top 10 actors.

I like several of his movies. Tom Cruise himself is a crazy man, but Legend was a part of my childhood, the M:I movies are a lot of fun, and his Lestat is amazing.

I like his movies.
I don't dislike him. He's fucking nuts with scientology, sure. This is what a sect will do, fuck with your brains. I wouldn't blame a normal person for it so why should I blame a famous one?

I'm also not aware of any people hating on him around me but this might be an European thing.

LOL. Aw.

Some of his movies are fantastic. The original M:I is still kickass. Eyes Wide Shut is still the only movie I've ever walked out of in the theatre. Hit or miss, you know? Who he actually is as a person is none of my business. It's so much easier for me to get lost in a movie if I don't know anything about the actors; he's one of the reasons why I don't read celebrity gossip of any kind.

Cruise may be a batshit crazy fucker, but I will watch The Last Samurai over and over again. And I still think his Tropic Thunder role was funny as hell.

As much as I think he has become a crazy joke in the last ten or so years, I loved a lot of his movies growing up. I especially loved Interview with the Vampire and still think has was the perfect Lestat.

(Anonymous) 2015-07-13 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
Yup. Loved him in that. Loved him in Edge of Tomorrow, which really played well off the reputation he's developed. And MI4 and...he's a perfectly fine movie star. And let's face it, most of them are just as crazy, they just don't manage to get loose from their PR handlers.

He's fucked up but I still enjoy some of his movies. And not even just old ones from the time before we knew all that - Edge of Tomorrow was a sweet-ass action movie that I avoided for MONTHS cause I didn't wanna watch him for that long, but then it turned out to be a lot of Emily Blunt kicking his ass all around the place, a clever story with really cool-designed aliens, and good shit.
