OP

To be fair, I didn't provide a lot of context. I was in training with this guy, so we have some idea of how the other behaves. I watched him with other people in training, and he never struck me as an awkward sort. At all. If anything, he seemed very good at projecting a calm and collected exterior. Likewise, when we've passed in the hall before, he's never actually been in my personal space. This whole thing struck me as odd because it seems like the more I try to avoid his part of the floor the more I end up being in fairly close proximity to him. He was the one person in training that I didn't really talk to much; felt he was the most difficult to get to know; and initially had pegged him for a brown noser. His behavior has made me second guess everything I've seen from him and wonder what exactly is going on.

Nothing's going on. You're fretting over nothing of note. Even the most social person can have awkward moments. You don't need to know every inner working and you're coming off as creepy. Let the moment go.

Agreed. OP you are coming off as a little creepily obsessed over this guy.
