that was my initial reaction but now i'm thinking it was about using the label. I think there are a lot more people to day who are open to calling themselves bisexual than in Peggy's time where they might have denied that about themselves.

This is how I interpreted it, because the question was "would she identify herself", and often in less "modern" periods even people in same sex relationships were reluctant to self identify as gay or bisexual due to the stigma. Idk though.
