Odin doesn't seem to be that terrible of a father. He's pretty okay in the movies, IMO. Rather strict, sure, but then his sons thought destroying worlds for bragging rights was a-okay.

But then I only know movie!Odin.

Someone else who knows movie Odin: he should have told Loki a lot sooner, shouldn't have made it out that there was preferential treatment because of heirdom, etc. He made a lot of mistakes that were really fucking stupid that fed into Loki's complex about not fitting in.

I think those mistakes make him very flawed, but I don't see how they make him a TERRIBLE father. I don't think it's really that black and white
