I mean, c'mon, the whole Starfleet cadets thing with him and Ashley Judd was a pretty good story, considering the fact that we had to deal with Pepto-Bismol-coloured trilobite-cockroach hybrid mind-parasites that invaded the top echelons of Starfleet from a galaxy far, far away...AKA the infamous "exploding head" episode...
TL;DR: If you think Wesley Crusher was the worst of the bad writing, I think you've never watched TNG.
