I can't blame her for being manipulated by Hannibal: all of them were. But imo, even then, Jack and Will had better scenes with Hannibal than she had. Hers were mostly boring. Now that she's playing the game she's more interesting. And if lots of people in the fandom are sharing this opinion, I don't think it's the fandom's fault. The writers' fault, maybe.

She's always been the only weak point of the show for me, despite two or three great scenes, but bashing her for getting betrayed is pretty silly when everyone was betrayed and none of them deserved that shit. Having a self-righteous streak doesn't really merit having your boyfriend turn out to be a serial killer who has you thrown out a window, you know? I do find her a bit more interesting this season, and it tickles me that Alana/Margot was Dhavernas' idea. Good job getting to make out with a different really attractive person every season, lol.

I've always liked Alana but I have to admit that I find her more interesting this season too. It's different, you know? We're getting another side of her.

And hell, I don't see how or why anyone would be angry with her for “betraying" (lol) Hannibal (you know that thing that happened with Jack? Wasn't angry with him for it either, despite not wanting him to succeed) or being fooled by Hannibal, because as it has been said, she isn't the only one who was.
