This lines up pretty well with my Carlos feelings. I don't think he's supposed to be abusive! I do think he's been a dick.

...if you look back at the transcripts, he never once said he was looking for a door. Plenty of "I haven't found one yet" and "I'm going to start looking soon," but never "okay, it's official, I've started looking."

(Hidden bonus dickishness: in the current live show, the version that was touring before the episodes 70, he wasn't just quiet or evasive about whether he planned to return to Night Vale, he outright lied about it D:)

Having times when you put your work before your partner is fine -- important, even! The problem is the way Carlos handles it, including making specific promises to Cecil and then breaking them in the name of work. I hope he can make the effort and become more reliable in the future of the show...I'm just having a hard time being optimistic at this point =/
